So I spoke about my 2025 themes at the end of last year and, surprisingly, I ended up doing very well against it so fuck it round 2.

2025 was a year of Sanchin, the year of full sends and go go go combined with oh god oh fuck it’s time to rest and I met that with flying colours. I’m happy with the direction I was moving, there were a couple things I would’ve done better if I had the chance but I’m only human and I feel I’ve learned appropriately from those mistakes.

My biggest gap this year came down to social anxiety. It ended up being a perfect storm for me to become a bit of a shut-in again - social problems in the beginning of the year making me hesitant to see certain people again, combined with a slowly increasing risk aversion when seeking out new company, plus (rightly) losing my primary means of self-medication in alcohol meant I lost a lot of friendships and grew apart from a lot of people. So that’s what I want to try and solve next year.

2026 will be my Year of Connection

Yes, I am aware of the whole reconnection blog post I did a while back, this is a lil bit different.

I want to build my own tolerance for people again, and go to gigs and events like I used to (just sober this time.) I have a couple friends who give so little of a fuck about drama and interpersonal shit to an extent, I aspire to be like them a bit more. My ‘vectors’ will include:

  1. Develop sustainable practices for socialising.
Designed to help myself ‘get back out there’ in a manner that won’t cause burnout.
  2. Maintain appropriate and redundant circles of friendship.
Designed to ensure that a single event won’t leave me entirely alone.
  3. Ensure self-talk and metaperception are positive, or are accurate but not harmful.
Designed to improve my confidence and ensure I’m not falling into bad habits again.

There are a couple quiet points of action I’ll keep close to my chest, but I hope these will help me start to become the person I want to be (whoever that is…)

I dunno if I’ll post more on this blog this year, we’ll see.

Lots of love,
Hare xx
